DJ Baker

Our very own Waddie G. joined Da Doo-Dirty Show’s co-hosts DJ Baker and Swanny River on their episode yesterday to talk about the recent alleged shady dealings surrounding “Down Low” author J.L. King.  We reported earlier this week that J.L. King lost a lawsuit and gained a tax lien over a ill-advised and fraudulent book deal with an aspiring gay author.

While Waddie G. and DJ Baker talked about King’s legal woes and shady business deals, the Da Doo-Dirty radio host compiled his list of the “Black Gay Devils” in the LGBT community.  Included in DJ’s list are Maurice Jamal (“Dirty Laundry”), Nathan “Seven” Scott and Seanmichael Rodgers (Embrace TV).  Though we do not endorse Jamal’s, King’s and Rodgers’ names on the list, we found DJ’s rant quite amusing.

Get into this great dialogue below.

The G-List Society had the greatest time reveling among friends, notables and beautiful people in our community at the 2nd Annual Gentlemen’s Ball over the weekend in Atlanta.  Gee Smalls and Juan Session at G.SPOT Productions, along with their very attentive staff, executed a remarkable black-tie event where hundreds of men and women in Atlanta (in addition to those who traveled from NYC, DC, Philly, Chicago, etc.) dined over a three-course meal and enjoyed live music and fun times all in the spirit of charity.  AID Atlanta was the organizational recipient of this charitable gala.

TV personality Eva Marcille served as the celebrity hostess of the event where she read a beautiful ode to gentlemen. Event hosts Gee Smalls and Juan Session closed the award ceremony portion of the Ball with an endearing dedication to each that touched hundreds of onlookers in the audience. Powerhouse vocalist Frenchie Davis rendered a show-stopping rendition of “I Am Changing” to end the festivities which was met with a thunderous applause.

Check out our fun-filled video below where hundreds and hundreds of women and men dined, danced and enjoyed the company of one another in ambiance of celebrating our community.  You may notice a handful of familiar faces including Lonnell Williams (3LWTV), Damien Crawford, Maurice Jamal (“Friends & Lovers”), Rafer Singleton Johnson, Miss Lawrence “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, Anthony Antoine, Kevin Simmons (“The Skorpion Show”), Laurence Pickeney, Neko Bunch, Kidd Dupree, Paisley Jackson, Rod Watkins, Tommy Bennett, Rameses Frederick (Urban Socialites) and others.

Over the weekend, The G-List Society traveled to Atlanta, GA to celebrate the second anniversary of the illustrious gala The Gentlemen’s Ball.  Hosted by Gee Smalls and Juan Session of G.SPOT Productions, the affair drew hundreds of men and women donning their finest after-five attire which was a sight to behold.

A who’s who of Black LGBT notables and personalities attended this glorious event.  ”Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Miss Lawrence was a delight to briefly chat.  Movie producer Maurice Jamal beamed about his new role as a producer of an upcoming LGBT music festival in Atlanta.  Lonnell Williams expressed his appreciation of such an event that was well-attended by LGBT people of color.  Damien Crawford gushed about finishing his upcoming studio…which will be previewed here first with an exclusive interview.  Radio personalities Kidd Dupree and Paisley Jackson were hard at work interviewing the LGBT notables including yours truly.  Neko Bunch talked about upcoming events he will be hosting throughout 2013.  Kevin Simmons talked about his action-packed weekend agenda and having fun staying at reality-TV star Towanda Braxton’s house.  Kid Cort talked about helping Simmons getting dressed up for the affair. Travel host Laurence Pickeney was the first pleasant face we were able to catch up with.

If you thought that men and women in the LGBT community could not gather in a celebratory event without division, you are gainfully mistaken.  If you presumed that this was just a Black LGBT event, you would be bountifully misguided.  If you could not imagine our people gathering together by the hundreds for a beautiful sit-down dinner and gala, today is your lucky day to become open-minded.

The G-List Society joined over 200 celebrators at the illustrious U.S. Presidential Inaugural celebration at the Warren Huntley hosted “En Cirque Noir: Inaugural 2013 Celebration” inside Washington DC’s lofty Lost Society lounge.  The exclusive affair drew many notables and personalities in the LGBT community from all over the U.S. and allies.

The snazzy affair contained a live band, of its singer whom we caught singing a stirring rendition of Tamar Braxton’s “Love & War,” champagne toasts, two floors of mingling and dancing and friends celebrating in the spirit of American progression.

We were very fortunate to run into the likes of Nathan Hale Williams, Reese Brown, J.R. Rolley, Jai Laurence, J. Omar Tutler, Antar Wright and Neko Bunch.  As always, it was great to chum it up with these great people.

We got great scoop in the midst of our mingling.  Fresh from a breath-taking trip in Dominican Republic, travel guru/philanthropist Laurence Pinckney gushed about a trip he is looking to host there.  We saw photos of the dwelling out there, and those photos look like the kind of paradise we would love to luxuriate.  Pop singer Marck Angel was excited to announce his new single right before he leaked the single’s cover.  We look forward to playing the follow-up to his smash hit and music video “Deep.”  We even had a nice discussion about how much the LGBT music scene has progressed in recent years.  Veteran R&B crooner Anthony Antoine revealed to us that a new single and music video is on the horizon.  ”Finding Me” web series producer Jared Paul Shuler announced new episodes and an impending relationship with us at The G-List Society. That is awesome news.  Isn’t it?

Enough talk about all the excitement in the gala.  Check out the photos for yourself.
