Our very own Waddie G. joined Da Doo-Dirty Show’s co-hosts DJ Baker and Swanny River on their episode yesterday to talk about the recent alleged shady dealings surrounding “Down Low” author J.L. King.  We reported earlier this week that J.L. King lost a lawsuit and gained a tax lien over a ill-advised and fraudulent book deal with an aspiring gay author.

While Waddie G. and DJ Baker talked about King’s legal woes and shady business deals, the Da Doo-Dirty radio host compiled his list of the “Black Gay Devils” in the LGBT community.  Included in DJ’s list are Maurice Jamal (“Dirty Laundry”), Nathan “Seven” Scott and Seanmichael Rodgers (Embrace TV).  Though we do not endorse Jamal’s, King’s and Rodgers’ names on the list, we found DJ’s rant quite amusing.

Get into this great dialogue below.

One day, people would do their due diligence and research on doing business with others rather than falling for the hype.

Though we have no issue with “Down Low” author J.L. King, we would lose all credibility if we were ignorant to the fact he is one of the most hated personalities among Black gay men.  His estranged relationship with the demographic he falls under quickly damaged itself in 2004 when he appeared on the “Oprah” talk show to promote his debut book “On The Down Low,” a self-help book where he used his life experiences as a closeted married man to educate women on how to handle men who lives their lives in sexual insecurity as closeted gay men.  Because of how the taboo topic became sensationalized by Oprah Winfrey and the media that followed the book discussion, the Black gay male population felt thrown under the bus as JL King, a gay man, profited from the seemingly demonizing of Black gay men as sexual predators against women, in particular Black women.  That single feat appeared that King’s reputation among Black gay men is permanently tarnished.

Since the release of his book, King once confronted the perceived reputation in offense mode and further the divide between him and the legions of criticisms; yet, has made surprising allies with respectable LGBT personalities that seem very suspect as they risk their credibility.  While those alliances seem in tact for now, we have noticed how aspiring Black gay authors, actors and writers have run to JL King to partner in business in order to launch their careers. However, we have yet to hear one successful story of goals completed and profits met from any partnership.  Instead, we have read and heard about lawsuits and disbelief from scorned hopefuls who turned to a seemingly successful Black gay man to mentor them into the apparent success that he once achieved.

Therefore, we are not surprised to read from our friends at Obnoxious TV on how JL King allegedly stiffed another aspiring author.

The G-List Society joined over 200 celebrators at the illustrious U.S. Presidential Inaugural celebration at the Warren Huntley hosted “En Cirque Noir: Inaugural 2013 Celebration” inside Washington DC’s lofty Lost Society lounge.  The exclusive affair drew many notables and personalities in the LGBT community from all over the U.S. and allies.

The snazzy affair contained a live band, of its singer whom we caught singing a stirring rendition of Tamar Braxton’s “Love & War,” champagne toasts, two floors of mingling and dancing and friends celebrating in the spirit of American progression.

We were very fortunate to run into the likes of Nathan Hale Williams, Reese Brown, J.R. Rolley, Jai Laurence, J. Omar Tutler, Antar Wright and Neko Bunch.  As always, it was great to chum it up with these great people.

We got great scoop in the midst of our mingling.  Fresh from a breath-taking trip in Dominican Republic, travel guru/philanthropist Laurence Pinckney gushed about a trip he is looking to host there.  We saw photos of the dwelling out there, and those photos look like the kind of paradise we would love to luxuriate.  Pop singer Marck Angel was excited to announce his new single right before he leaked the single’s cover.  We look forward to playing the follow-up to his smash hit and music video “Deep.”  We even had a nice discussion about how much the LGBT music scene has progressed in recent years.  Veteran R&B crooner Anthony Antoine revealed to us that a new single and music video is on the horizon.  ”Finding Me” web series producer Jared Paul Shuler announced new episodes and an impending relationship with us at The G-List Society. That is awesome news.  Isn’t it?

Enough talk about all the excitement in the gala.  Check out the photos for yourself.
