“Pyramids” crooner Frank Ocean may have been overlooked for nominations at the BET Awards, but the O Music Awards have crowned him king recently as their nominations announced.  We never heard of the O Music Awards, but we find their categories very interesting as it seems to be artistry and superficiality of the music industry.  Check out the nominees below.

When will this coke-head asshole learn his lesson about his ways???  Apparently, his dwindling music sales is not teaching him a lesson.

album-frankocean

album-miguel

2012 may have a relatively quiet year for R&B and hip-hop music that can stand the test of time, The G-List Society compiled a list of 12 mainstream soul, R&B and hip-hop that made the sounds of soul relevant in a dance-pop world.

While some of our favorite musicians including Monica, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Young Jeezy and Usher failed their R&B and hip-hop fanbases this year, take a glance at the 12 albums that pleased R&B and hip-hop fans while providing minutes of ear candy.

Instead of providing a lengthy, irrelevant review of each album, we provided a one sentence summary that explains the essence of each album.

BLACK GAYS ROCK!!! 50 Most Impressionable, Influential & Inspirational Black LGBT Personalities Of 2012 (Pt. 2)

Will Williams

Black Gays Rock 4

When noticing that more than 37,000 people read BLACK GAYS ROCK!!! 50 Most Impressionable, Influential & Inspirational Black LGBT Personalities Of 2012 (Pt. 1) that debuted on Friday, The G-List Society could not be any happier than to unveil the top 20 people of 2012.  Again, there will be a couple of surprises that are on this list as well as not making the entire top 50. The top two slots would not have been your guess on this list or picks until you read and understand why.  With that aside, let’s set egos aside and celebrate the people who really made huge impressions in 2012.

Drum roll please…

50-WassupNATL

20. Wassup N ATL and founder/CEO Mario Harris (party promoter)

For the past decade, the Black gay/lesbian party scenes have seen so many great promoting groups’ come and go over disbanding associates, greed, retirement or lack of community interest to the point that people cannot keep up with what or who is new and current in the scene.  Since 2002, Wassup N ATL has become a fixture in Atlanta’s social scene with weekly parties and pride events that revelers gather until capacity.  Harris now travels the Wassup N ATL brand with “Invasion” events that extend to additional major cities including Washington DC, New York and Charlotte.

50-DeBorah

19. De’Borah (singer/TV star)

This beautifully gifted singer from Chicago stole the hearts of America this fall as the somewhat shy yet very personable talent who graced the hit TV singing competition “The Voice.”  De’Borah instantly inspired many viewers on the first episode of the season as she revealed her lesbian identity.  Her fans were also enamored with her religious family’s support.  The media could not get enough of De’Borah, her talent, her fashion and her charisma up until the very episode where coach Christina Aguilera [wrongfully] eliminated her [in favor one of least impressionable contestants].  The future seems bright for this Chicago songbird who avows her love of karaoke and cites Ellen DeGeneres as her fashion inspiration.

@Nas, @Drake, @JayZ or @KanyeWest: The G-List Predicts @TheGrammys Rap Music Nominations

Kanye West & Jay-Z

With the predictable rap superstars Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z and Kanye West saturating the nods for the rap music categories of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, only can wonder whether any of them will easily run away with the coveted wins or would the tough choices to pick one of the superstars in the categories would allow unlikely winners The Roots, Rick Ross, Flo Rida and Wale sneak in wins of their own.

In probably the most competitive genre of categories, spectators will glue themselves to see which rap superstar will win bragging rights over being the most celebrated among music industry peers.  Check out The G-List Society predictions on who will take home the wins in bold purple font.

@MiguelUnlimited, @Frank__Ocean, @UsherRaymondIV Or @Beyonce: The G-List Predicts @TheGrammys R&B Music Nominations

Miguel

With the likes of R&B stars Beyonce, Miguel, Usher, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Frank Ocean nominated in the genre’s categories of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, the surprises are not about who made the cut.  Tracks from R. Kelly’s Write Me Back album should have been in the running.  While the album is not his best effort, Usher’s Looking For Myself album should have received an album nod, especially with three albums making the category’s short list.  Even Alicia Keys’ mega-hit single “Girl On Fire” should have made all of the song categories.

The G-List Society picked its winning predictions in bold purple font.  Feel free to chime on who you think will win these categories.  Would the usual suspects including Beyonce, Chris Brown and Usher take home the trophies or will the highly-praised newer acts like Luke James and Elle Varner would surprise the anticipating public with victories?

Best R&B Performance

“Thank You”
Estelle

“Gonna Be Alright (F.T.B.)”
Robert Glasper Experiment Featuring Ledisi

“I Want You”
Luke James

“Adorn”
Miguel

“Climax”
Usher
